Yes, the Heckler & Koch USP 9mm can be used for carry. It’s my conceal carry.

Coming in at over 7.6 inches in total length and 27 ounces with a fully loaded magazine, the Heckler & Koch USP is not your typical concealed weapon. Why? Because this is a beefy gun to be hiding somewhere on your person!

However, if someone as lean as me (6 foot and 150 pounds) can hide this, so can you. I always opted for placement on the hip versus the shoulder so that in case of emergency I could easily get to it. Unfortunately, this did pull my pants down a bit so I had to get some more belts to compensate!

Why Carry the Heckler & Koch USP 9mm?

Now why would I recommend the Heckler & Koch USP 9mm over other firearms, particularly options of the ‘compact’ persuasion?

One reason: ease of use.

I’ve noticed a huge difference in accuracy when I use the Heckler & Koch USP versus a compact handgun. The size and weight of the USP allows for greater handling and manageable recoil. In other words, I felt like John Wayne at the gun range. I never could get used to compact handguns that barely fit my hand and recoil out of control, so that’s why I love the HK USP full-size.

A huge plus I found too is that it rarely jams. I don’t clean it as often as I should, so that should tell you something about the design and functionality of the weapon. Leave it to the Germans for fine craftsmanship and reliability!

The only downside is price (around $1,000), but if you’re willing to fork it over like I did, you’ll end up with a fine addition to your personal defense that looks great and works like a dream.
